The Short Version

Shimmering Skies is Disney Lorcana's Set 5, released August 9, 2024 in game stores and August 23, 2024 everywhere. It added no new keywords, but its cards fed two of the three tier-1 decks of its first month and touched the third, led by Pete - Games Referee, Daisy Duck - Donald's Date, Prince Naveen - Ukulele Player and Mufasa - Ruler of Pride Rock. The whole set left Core Constructed on July 17, 2026, when the Attack of the Vine! prerelease rotated Sets 5 through 8 out, and none of its cards were reprinted into the current Core sets, so every Shimmering Skies card is now an Infinity card. Former staples sell for under $1 to about $3 non-foil as of September 2026, while Mufasa's Enchanted sold for about $200 to $355 in September 2026. Play your copies in Infinity, don't pay a premium for them, and judge your Enchanteds as collectibles, not game pieces.

Shimmering Skies was Disney Lorcana's fifth set and the first of the game's second year. It reached game stores on August 9, 2024 and everywhere else on August 23, 2024. If you have seen it dated November 2024, that month belongs to Azurite Sea, Set 6, which hit game stores on November 15, 2024. Its cards fed tier-1 decks from the first month. In July 2026 the whole set rotated out of Core Constructed at once, and two months later the official Disney Lorcana site named two of its cards among the defining staples the format had lost.

That leaves you holding a set with two separate lives. For players, Shimmering Skies is now an Infinity-only card pool where the former staples cost $3 or less. For collectors, it is an 18-card Enchanted chase led by a Mufasa - Ruler of Pride Rock Enchanted that sold for about $200 to $355 in September 2026. Those two lives call for different decisions, and mixing them up is the fastest way to overpay for a playset or undersell a chase card.

This retrospective names the cards that actually won games and shows the tournament evidence behind each one. It explains exactly why none of them survived rotation, then walks through the collector market and what you should do with the Set 5 cards already in your binder.

What Shimmering Skies Was

Story-wise, Shimmering Skies picks up after Ursula's defeat in Set 4. The realm's inhabitants throw a festival at the Great Illuminary to celebrate, and the party ends when parts of the Great Illuminary come crashing down. That explains the party-themed cards scattered through the set (Maleficent - Vexed Partygoer, Ed - Hysterical Partygoer, Ratigan - Party Crasher). It also explains the set's Chromicon items: the flavor text on Vision of the Future says those devices are what the realm needs to repair the Illuminary. For the full arc across every set, our explainer on the Lorcana story so far connects the dots.

The set brought Wreck-It Ralph into Lorcana, with Wreck-It Ralph - Demolition Dude, King Candy - Sovereign of Sugar, Fix-It Felix, Jr. - Trusty Builder and several Sugar Rush racers such as Vanellope von Schweetz - Sugar Rush Champ and Taffyta Muttonfudge - Ruthless Rival. It also added Frozen 2's elemental spirits, including Bruni - Fire Salamander and Gale - Wind Spirit, which is where Elsa - The Fifth Spirit gets her subtitle.

Mechanically, Shimmering Skies was unusual: it introduced no new keywords and no new card types. Into the Inklands had brought locations and Ursula's Return had brought Sing Together, but Set 5 worked entirely with the existing toolbox. Its themes lived in the card pool instead. The Seven Dwarfs came back as Knights (Doc - Bold Knight, Grumpy - Skeptical Knight and the rest), backed by a Knight-rewarding location, Seven Dwarfs' Mine - Secure Fortress. The Sugar Rush racers got their own track, Sugar Rush Speedway - Starting Line. And every ink received one Chromicon, from Amber Chromicon to Steel Chromicon.

The face of the Knights theme is Snow White - Fair-hearted, a 5-cost, uninkable Steel Super Rare with 3 strength, 5 willpower and 3 lore that gains Resist +1 for each other Knight you have in play. She did not show up in the meta reports we checked, but she matters later in this guide: her Enchanted is the second most valuable card in the set.

Where Set 5 Stands Now: Rotation, Reprints and Infinity

Lorcana's rotation policy is simple on paper: once a year, the four oldest sets leave Core Constructed. The first rotation came with Fabled (Set 9), released August 29, 2025 in game stores and September 5, 2025 everywhere, which retired The First Chapter through Ursula's Return. Our breakdown of what Fabled changed as the first rotation set covers that transition. From then until July 2026, Shimmering Skies was the oldest set in Core: the format started as Sets 5 through 9 when Fabled launched, and Whispers in the Well, Winterspell and Wilds Unknown joined it as they released.

That window closed with Attack of the Vine! (Set 13). Rotation took effect at its prerelease on July 17, 2026, a week before its July 24 wide release, and it retired Shimmering Skies, Azurite Sea, Archazia's Island and Reign of Jafar together. Some rotation guides date the change to July 24 instead, but the official Attack of the Vine! announcement ties it to the July 17 prerelease. Core Constructed is now Sets 9 through 13 only: Fabled, Whispers in the Well, Winterspell, Wilds Unknown and Attack of the Vine!. When the official Disney Lorcana site looked at the new Core meta on September 21, 2026, it named Elsa - The Fifth Spirit and Doc - Bold Knight among the "defining staples" that had left the format.

Set Game-store release Core Constructed status
1. The First Chapter Aug 18, 2023 Rotated out with Fabled, 2025
2. Rise of the Floodborn Nov 17, 2023 Rotated out with Fabled, 2025
3. Into the Inklands (introduced locations) Feb 23, 2024 Rotated out with Fabled, 2025
4. Ursula's Return (introduced Sing Together) May 17, 2024 Rotated out with Fabled, 2025
5. Shimmering Skies Aug 9, 2024 (wide Aug 23) Rotated out July 17, 2026
6. Azurite Sea Nov 15, 2024 Rotated out July 17, 2026
7. Archazia's Island Mar 7, 2025 Rotated out July 17, 2026
8. Reign of Jafar May 30, 2025 Rotated out July 17, 2026
9 to 13. Fabled through Attack of the Vine! Aug 29, 2025 onward Core-legal now

There is one escape hatch. Under the official rotation rules, a card from Reign of Jafar or earlier stays Core-legal, in any printing, if it was reprinted in Fabled or a later set. That rule rescued a lot of cards from Sets 1 through 4, because Fabled was built largely from reprints (171 reprints and 33 mechanically new cards, per Zatu's breakdown) and those reprints came from the first four sets. It rescues nothing from Shimmering Skies. We compared the lorcana-api card lists for Fabled, Whispers in the Well, Winterspell, Wilds Unknown and Attack of the Vine! against the Set 5 list and found zero name matches, while the same check turns up between 37 and 52 matches for each of Sets 1 through 4. As of September 2026, none of Set 5's cards were reprinted into the current Core sets.

So every Shimmering Skies card now lives in Infinity Constructed, the non-rotating format where (almost) any card ever printed is legal. The "almost" matters, because Infinity has its own ban list. The official Attack of the Vine! announcement says every card stays available in Infinity "with one exception", and that exception is a Set 2 card, banned from Infinity on March 26, 2026. No Shimmering Skies card is banned there, so your Set 5 cards are fully playable.

What comes next is less certain. Official material commits only to one rotation a year covering the four oldest sets. If that pattern holds, Fabled through Wilds Unknown would be next in line, but we have not found an announced date. Our Lorcana rotation survival guide walks through how to check any card's legality, reprints included; treat any specific date for the next rotation as an estimate until it is officially announced.

Rotation caveat: Shimmering Skies cards have not been legal in Core Constructed since the Attack of the Vine! prerelease on July 17, 2026, and no Set 5 card has a Core-legal reprint to fall back on. If your store's weekly event or a Set Championship runs Core, leave them at home. Infinity events, and casual games where both players agree, are where they belong now. Formats and ban lists change, so check the official rotation page before any sanctioned event.

The Set 5 Scorecard and Its Two Defining Staples

Most of the evidence for which Set 5 cards mattered comes from three places. lorcana.gg's Month 1 meta report (September 20, 2024) catalogued the decks winning right after release. Its Azurite Sea Set Championship tier list (February 2025) showed which Set 5 cards were still pulling weight a full set later. And the official site's September 2026 article named two Set 5 cards among the staples the Core meta lost at rotation. Lorcana Player's top 10 for the set is a useful fourth view, though it is an editorial ranking rather than tournament data.

Month 1 had three tier-1 decks: Amber/Steel Steelsong and Ruby/Sapphire Pawpsicle Control with 19 Top 8 finishes each, and Amethyst/Ruby Bounce Control with 14. Steelsong and Pawpsicle each picked up several Set 5 cards, while Bounce Control added only two copies of one, The Library - A Gift for Belle. Across the whole tier list, the report names Set 5 cards from five of the six inks. That spread is the real story of the set. It did not crown one deck; it handed upgrades to many of them.

Card Ink, cost Where it mattered
Elsa - The Fifth Spirit Amethyst, 5 Amethyst/Sapphire control; Azurite Sea Amethyst/Steel Aggro; official "defining staple"
Doc - Bold Knight Steel, 2 Azurite Sea Amber/Steel Dwarfs' Mine; official "defining staple" that left Core
Pete - Games Referee Steel, 3 Steelsong, Sapphire/Steel Ramp, Amethyst/Steel Aggro; Lorcana Player #1
Daisy Duck - Donald's Date Amber, 1 Steelsong's fast starts; Lorcana Player #2
Prince Naveen - Ukulele Player Amber, 4 Steelsong song consistency
Mufasa - Ruler of Pride Rock Sapphire, 8 Pawpsicle finisher; Sapphire/Steel Ramp
Tipo - Growing Son Sapphire, 2 Pawpsicle, Sapphire/Steel Ramp; Azurite Sea Amethyst/Sapphire Bounce ramp
Vision of the Future Sapphire, 2 Pawpsicle; Azurite Sea Pawpsicle consistency
Hide Away Sapphire, 2 Three copies in Sapphire/Steel Ramp
Clarabelle - Light on Her Hooves Emerald, 7 (Shift 5) Amethyst/Emerald Tempo draw engine; Lorcana Player #4
Mother Gothel - Unwavering Schemer Emerald, 6 (Shift 4) Amethyst/Emerald Tempo
Anna - Diplomatic Queen Emerald, 3 Emerald/Steel Discard
You're Welcome Emerald, 4 Amber/Emerald Discard Control; Lorcana Player #6
The Library - A Gift for Belle Amethyst, 3 Amethyst/Ruby Bounce Control; Azurite Sea report
Cogsworth - Illuminary Watchman Amethyst, 1 Amethyst/Steel Aggro; Lorcana Player #5
Seven Dwarfs' Mine - Secure Fortress Steel, 2 Amber/Steel Dwarfs' Mine; Azurite Sea report

Two of those cards deserve to go first, because they are the ones the game's own publisher singled out when Core lost them.

Elsa - The Fifth Spirit, Disney Lorcana Doc - Bold Knight, Disney Lorcana

Elsa - The Fifth Spirit

Elsa is a 5-cost Amethyst Super Rare with Rush and Evasive, 2 strength, 5 willpower and 1 lore. When you play her, you exert chosen opposing character. That one line is why she lasted. Only exerted characters can be challenged, so Elsa turns any opposing threat into a legal challenge target the turn she lands, for herself (thanks to Rush, though her 2 strength limits what she can finish) or for anything else you have ready. Month 1 had her in Amethyst/Sapphire control. By the Azurite Sea Set Championships, the report named her as Amethyst/Steel Aggro's ready answer to a key new Azurite Sea threat in Amethyst mirrors, though some Amethyst/Ruby Bounce Control lists had cut her to save money. In September 2026 the official site listed her as one of the two Set 5 staples Core lost at rotation. Her Evasive keyword also meant only other Evasive characters could challenge her back; our Evasive keyword explainer covers why that matters so much.

Doc - Bold Knight

Doc is a 2-cost Steel Rare with 1 strength and 3 willpower, and he is uninkable. When you play him, you may discard your hand to draw 2 cards. He is at his best when your hand is down to one or two cards you do not want: you pitch them, draw two fresh ones for 2 ink, and still leave a 3-willpower Knight on the board to feed Seven Dwarfs' Mine or Snow White - Fair-hearted. The Azurite Sea Set Championship report counted him in Amber/Steel Dwarfs' Mine alongside the Mine itself, and the official site's September 2026 article named him alongside Elsa among the defining staples that left Core. The uninkable tag is his real cost, since a card you cannot put into your inkwell is a dead draw in an ink-light hand. Our guide to building your inkwell around inkable and uninkable cards covers how to balance the two.

Steelsong's Set 5 Engine: Daisy, Naveen and Pete

Amber/Steel Steelsong is the deck that shows Set 5's impact most clearly. It was tied for the most Top 8 finishes in Month 1 and was still tier 1, at 12% of the field, in the Azurite Sea Set Championship meta. The Month 1 report credited three Set 5 cards in particular. If you have ever been on the wrong side of the archetype, our guide on how to counter singer and Steelsong decks explains how it wins and where it is weak.

Daisy Duck - Donald's Date, Disney Lorcana Prince Naveen - Ukulele Player, Disney Lorcana Pete - Games Referee, Disney Lorcana

Daisy Duck - Donald's Date

Daisy is a 1-cost Amber Super Rare with 1 strength, 4 willpower and 2 lore, and she is uninkable. Two lore for one ink is an aggressive rate, and 4 willpower means cheap characters struggle to challenge her off the board. The catch is printed on the card: whenever she quests, each opponent reveals the top card of their deck and may put it into their hand if it is a character. Steelsong happily paid that price, and the Month 1 report credited her with the deck's very fast starts. Lorcana Player ranked her second in the set.

Prince Naveen - Ukulele Player

Naveen is a 4-cost Amber Legendary with Singer 6, 3 strength, 3 willpower and 2 lore. When you play him, you may play a song with cost 6 or less for free. For a deck built around songs, that means getting a free song worth up to 6 ink on turn four, then keeping a Singer 6 body on the board to sing again next turn. The Month 1 report noted that he made Steelsong's key song, the hand refill the deck reached for when it ran out of gas, more consistent to cast, which is exactly what a combo-leaning deck wants from a Legendary. If singing is new to you, our guide to Singer and songs covers the rules.

Pete - Games Referee

Pete is a 3-cost Steel Uncommon with 3 strength and 3 willpower. When you play him, opponents can't play actions until the start of your next turn. Songs are actions, so for a full turn cycle he shuts off both removal actions and songs. The Month 1 report valued him in Steelsong for protecting the early, aggressive board. He also appeared in Sapphire/Steel Ramp and Amethyst/Steel Aggro, and the Azurite Sea report still cited him as early pressure in Amethyst/Steel Aggro months later. Lorcana Player ranked him the best card in the set, and the evidence backs that up: he was an Uncommon that three different archetypes, from tier 1 down to tier 3, found room for.

Ramp, Control and the Emerald Engines

Steelsong got the flashiest Set 5 pieces, but slower decks took just as much from the set. Sapphire got a finisher and cheap ramp glue, Emerald got a draw engine and a bounce package for its tempo builds, and a handful of locations and one-drops filled out the rest.

Mufasa - Ruler of Pride Rock: The Pawpsicle Finisher

Mufasa - Ruler of Pride Rock, Disney Lorcana

Mufasa is an 8-cost Sapphire Legendary with 4 strength, 9 willpower and 4 lore, and he is uninkable. When you play him, you exert all cards in your inkwell and return 2 of them at random to your hand. Whenever he quests, you ready all cards in your inkwell. In practice he refills your hand when he lands, then hands you a second round of ink every turn he quests, and 9 willpower makes him very hard to remove in a challenge. Month 1 had him joining tier-1 Ruby/Sapphire Pawpsicle as its new finisher and hand refill, and he also showed up in Sapphire/Steel Ramp. Pawpsicle itself was still tied for the largest share of the Azurite Sea Set Championship field, at 17%. Hold on to that competitive record, because it complicates the collector story later: Mufasa's Enchanted is the set's most expensive card.

Sapphire's Cheap Glue: Tipo, Vision of the Future and Hide Away

Tipo - Growing Son, Disney Lorcana Vision of the Future, Disney Lorcana Hide Away, Disney Lorcana

Tipo - Growing Son is a 2-cost Sapphire Uncommon: when you play him, you may put a card from your hand into your inkwell facedown and exerted. Play him on turn two and you have four ink on turn three. He appeared in both Pawpsicle and Sapphire/Steel Ramp in Month 1. By the Azurite Sea Set Championships, the report credited Tipo and Vision of the Future with making Pawpsicle a lot more consistent, and named Tipo as one of the cards that took Amethyst/Sapphire Bounce from two ink to four. Vision of the Future is a 2-cost common action that looks at the top five cards of your deck, puts one into your hand and sends the rest to the bottom, which is how ramp decks dig for the one card they need. It finds cards rather than ramping. Pawpsicle also listed Chicha - Dedicated Mother, a 2-cost Sapphire character that lets you draw when you put a second card into your inkwell in a turn. That is exactly what Tipo does after your normal ink for the turn.

Hide Away was the removal half of the package. For 2 ink, it puts a chosen item or location into its player's inkwell facedown and exerted. That permanently answers a problem location or item, and the price is that your opponent gets an extra ink out of it. Month 1's Sapphire/Steel Ramp list ran three copies and rated it a very good new tool against items and locations, and Lorcana Player put it in its top 10. If you are fuzzy on why locations needed dedicated answers, our guide to Lorcana locations explains how they generate lore every turn.

Emerald's Engines: Clarabelle, the Mother Gothel Package, Anna and You're Welcome

Clarabelle - Light on Her Hooves, Disney Lorcana Mother Gothel - Unwavering Schemer, Disney Lorcana Anna - Diplomatic Queen, Disney Lorcana You're Welcome, Disney Lorcana

Clarabelle - Light on Her Hooves is a 7-cost Emerald Legendary with Shift 5, 5 strength, 6 willpower and 2 lore. At the end of your turn, if the opponent you choose has more cards in hand than you, you may draw until you have the same number. The Month 1 report, covering Amethyst/Emerald Tempo, called her arguably the best new draw engine in Disney Lorcana, and Lorcana Player ranked her fourth. Shift is what makes her realistic: you pay 5 to put her on top of an earlier Clarabelle, and Set 5 printed cheap ones to shift onto, such as Clarabelle - Clumsy Guest. Our Shift keyword explainer breaks down the ink and tempo math.

The same deck ran a Mother Gothel package. Mother Gothel - Conceited Manipulator is a 2-cost Emerald Uncommon that, when played, lets you pay 3 ink to return a chosen character to its player's hand. Mother Gothel - Unwavering Schemer shifts onto her for 4 and forces each opponent to return one of their own characters to hand. Bounce like that is pure tempo: your opponent spends their next turn replaying what they already had. Amethyst/Emerald Tempo was tier 2 in Month 1 and had climbed to tier 1, at 12% of the field, by the Azurite Sea Set Championships.

Anna - Diplomatic Queen is a 3-cost, uninkable Emerald Legendary. When you play her, you may pay 2 ink to choose one: each opponent discards a card, a chosen character gets +2 strength this turn, or you banish a chosen damaged character. That flexibility put her in Month 1's Emerald/Steel Discard list; if that archetype is your thing, our budget Emerald/Steel Discard deck guide walks through the archetype's engine and payoffs on a budget. You're Welcome, a 4-cost Emerald song, shuffles a chosen character, item or location into its player's deck and has that player draw 2 cards. It is permanent removal that pays your opponent back in cards, and it showed up in Amber/Emerald Discard Control. Lorcana Player ranked it sixth.

The Rest of the Supporting Cast

The Library - A Gift for Belle, Disney Lorcana Cogsworth - Illuminary Watchman, Disney Lorcana Seven Dwarfs' Mine - Secure Fortress, Disney Lorcana

The Library - A Gift for Belle is a 3-cost Amethyst location with 8 willpower: whenever a character is banished while there, you may draw a card. It appeared in tier-1 Amethyst/Ruby Bounce Control in Month 1 and again in the Azurite Sea Set Championship report. Cogsworth - Illuminary Watchman is a 1-cost common that gives a chosen character Rush the turn you play him. It showed up in Amethyst/Steel Aggro, a tier-3 deck in Month 1, alongside Mickey Mouse - Food Fight Defender, and Lorcana Player ranked it fifth. It is a Set 5 common that found a real slot, if not a tier-1 one.

Seven Dwarfs' Mine - Secure Fortress is a 2-cost Steel location. During your turn, the first time you move a character there, you may deal 1 damage to a chosen character, or 2 damage if the character you moved is a Knight. The Azurite Sea report credited it with aggressive pinging, and it anchored an Amber/Steel Dwarfs' Mine deck that took 7% of that field. That is the Knights theme from the set's design actually showing up in results. Two more role-players round out the list: Prince John - Gold Lover, which cheats items into play and appeared in Month 1's Ruby/Sapphire Items Cheat list, and Gathering Knowledge And Wisdom, a 2-cost common that simply gains 2 lore and made Lorcana Player's top 10.

The Collector Side: Enchanteds and Sealed

Shimmering Skies has 18 Enchanted cards, numbered #205 through #222, on top of the 204-card main set. Mufasa - Ruler of Pride Rock's Enchanted (#217) is the set's top chase by a wide margin. PriceCharting's ungraded figure was about $303 in late September 2026, individual September 2026 sales ranged from about $200 to about $355 across eBay and TCGplayer, and PriceCharting puts a PSA 10 copy at about $1,100. The table below lists the six priciest Enchanteds, then the Enchanteds of cards covered earlier in this guide, then the two cheapest.

Enchanted card Number Ungraded price (Sept 2026)
Mufasa - Ruler of Pride Rock #217 About $303 (September sales about $200 to $355)
Snow White - Fair-hearted #220 About $162
Scar - Vengeful Lion #212 About $113
Donald Duck - Pie Slinger #214 About $112
Robin Hood - Sharpshooter #215 About $99
Olaf - Happy Passenger #209 About $92
You're Welcome #213 About $78
Clarabelle - Light on Her Hooves #211 About $57
Prince Naveen - Ukulele Player #205 About $47
Cheapest: Ratigan's Party - Seedy Back Room, Bad-Anon - Villain Support Center #216, #222 About $19 and about $25

PriceCharting ungraded prices, checked in late September 2026. The seven Enchanteds not listed sat between about $36 and about $64. Prices move; check recent sold listings before you buy or sell.

A second source agrees on the order. TCGplayer market prices compiled by Magical Meta in July 2026 put the top six in the same sequence, from Mufasa at about $341 down to Olaf at about $100. The gap between sources, and between individual sales of the same card, is a reminder that a single Enchanted price is a range, not a number.

Two things stand out. First, the rule of thumb that Enchanted value comes from art and scarcity rather than playability does not hold neatly here, because the most expensive Enchanted in the set was also a tier-1 finisher. Snow White - Fair-hearted sits second without appearing in any of the meta reports we checked, so both kinds of demand exist; our collector's reality check on Lorcana Enchanteds goes deeper on what drives them. Second, the Enchanteds now trade on collector demand alone. Former staples sell for under $1 to about $3 non-foil as of September 2026 (Pete - Games Referee and Tipo - Growing Son both under $1, Elsa - The Fifth Spirit about $1.25, Doc - Bold Knight about $1.00, Daisy Duck - Donald's Date about $1.04, Prince Naveen - Ukulele Player about $1.58, Mufasa - Ruler of Pride Rock about $2.50), while every Enchanted still sells for about $19 or more. The playable copy and the collectible copy of the same card have become two different products, a split our piece on how tournament results dictate Lorcana card value explains from the playability side.

Sealed product splits in two. A Shimmering Skies booster box was about $142 on PriceCharting in September 2026, roughly what 24 packs cost at the $5.99 pack price Ravensburger announced at launch (about $144), so more than two years after release the box has held its launch price rather than climbed. The Illumineer's Trove has done better, at about $65 against its announced $49.99, a gain of roughly 30%, or about $15 per Trove. Our look at whether Lorcana sealed product is a good investment covers the broader case.

If you are thinking about grading a Mufasa Enchanted, the spread between raw sales and a PSA 10 is large enough to matter, and so is the risk of coming back with a lower grade. Our PSA vs BGS grading guide for Enchanted cards compares the two services.

What to Do With Your Set 5 Cards Now

The right move depends on which of the set's two lives you are part of. Here is how it breaks down for each kind of Set 5 owner.

If You Play Infinity

Keep your playables. Every Shimmering Skies card is legal in Infinity, and the cards that fed tier-1 Core decks (Pete, Daisy, Naveen, Mufasa, Tipo, Elsa, Doc) are the natural place to start testing. Infinity decklists draw on almost the whole card pool and change quickly, so don't assume a 2024 Core staple still makes the cut; check a recent Infinity decklist before you buy for it. The good news is that filling a gap is cheap, at under $1 to about $3 a non-foil copy. Our guide to the best way to buy Lorcana singles covers where, how and when to buy.

If You Only Play Core

Your Set 5 staples cannot help you there, and a non-foil copy is worth $3 or less, often under $1, so selling them one at a time rarely beats the time and fees. Sell them as a lot, trade them to an Infinity player at your store, or keep them for casual games. For cheap cards to rebuild around, start with our hub of the best Lorcana cards under $10, and check each pick against the current Core sets before you buy.

If You Hold Enchanteds

Decide as a collector, not as a player. Rotation does not change what a Mufasa or Snow White Enchanted means to the people buying it, and the prices above are collector prices. Hold if you love the card or want the set complete; sell if you would rather have the money, and do it with recent sold data in hand. On eBay, one Mufasa Enchanted sold for about $340 on September 11, 2026 and another for about $200 a week later. Condition, platform and timing drive gaps like that, so photograph your card well, compare sold listings on more than one site, and don't accept the first lowball offer. If grading is on your mind, read our look at whether chasing a PSA 10 is worth it before you pay the fees.

If You Hold Sealed Product

Do not treat a Shimmering Skies box as an appreciating asset. More than two years after release, it still trades at roughly its launch pricing. Open it if you want the fun of pulling for a Mufasa, keep it if you like having it, or sell it near today's price if you need the shelf space or the cash. Waiting for a sealed Set 5 box to take off has not paid so far, and even the Trove's gain is modest for two years of shelf space.

If You Are Buying In Now

This is a buyer's market for playables. Every former staple we priced sits between under $1 and about $3 non-foil as of September 2026, which makes Shimmering Skies a cheap way to build an Infinity deck or a themed casual deck around Knights, Sugar Rush racers or Frozen 2's spirits. If you want specific cards, buy singles rather than packs: with packs announced at $5.99 at launch and staples at $3 or less, chasing a particular card through boosters almost always costs more than simply buying it.

Common Mistakes

1. Registering Set 5 Cards for a Core Event

Older deck guides and decklists still show Pete - Games Referee and Elsa - The Fifth Spirit in Core decks, because they were Core decks when they were written. Since July 17, 2026, they are not. Why it costs you: an illegal card in a registered Core deck is a deck-registration problem at best and a wasted entry fee and evening at worst.

2. Assuming a Reprint Keeps Your Copy Legal

The reprint rule is real, and it kept plenty of Set 1 through 4 cards in Core. It does nothing for Set 5, because none of Set 5's cards were reprinted into Fabled, Whispers in the Well, Winterspell, Wilds Unknown or Attack of the Vine!. Why it costs you: buying Set 5 copies on the assumption that a reprint makes them Core-legal leaves you with cards you cannot register.

3. Paying Old Staple Prices

It is easy to anchor on what these cards meant when they were Core staples. The market has moved on: the former staples now sell for under $1 to about $3 non-foil as of September 2026. Why it costs you: anything you pay above that for a non-foil Elsa, Doc or Daisy is money you will not get back, because there is no Core demand left to resell into.

4. Treating a Sealed Shimmering Skies Box as a Growth Asset

More than two years after release, the box still trades at roughly its launch pack pricing. Why it costs you: money parked in a sealed box that does not appreciate is money that could have bought the exact singles or the exact Enchanted you actually wanted.

5. Buying a High-Dollar Enchanted Without Checking It

At several hundred dollars, a raw Mufasa Enchanted is a purchase that deserves the same care as any other big-ticket collectible. Why it costs you: a counterfeit, or a card whose condition is worse than the photos suggest, can turn a purchase of roughly $300 into a near-total loss.

Before you pay Enchanted money: ask for clear photos of the front, back and edges, check the seller's sold history, and compare the card against our guide to spotting fake Lorcana cards. Use a platform with buyer protection, and never pay a private seller by a method that gives you no recourse.

FAQ & Quick Reference

Is Shimmering Skies still legal in Lorcana Core Constructed? No. Shimmering Skies left Core Constructed on July 17, 2026, at the Attack of the Vine! prerelease (the set's wide release followed on July 24), along with Azurite Sea, Archazia's Island and Reign of Jafar. Core is now Sets 9 through 13: Fabled, Whispers in the Well, Winterspell, Wilds Unknown and Attack of the Vine!.

Were any Shimmering Skies cards reprinted so they stay Core-legal? None that we could find. A name check of every card in Sets 9 through 13 against the Set 5 list turned up zero matches, so no Set 5 card benefits from the reprint rule as of September 2026.

Where can I still play Shimmering Skies cards? In Infinity Constructed, the non-rotating format, and in any casual game where both players agree. No Set 5 card is banned in Infinity; the format's one exception is a Set 2 card. Our rotation survival guide explains how the formats differ.

When did Shimmering Skies come out, and how many cards are in it? August 9, 2024 in game stores and August 23, 2024 everywhere. It has 204 main-set cards plus 18 Enchanteds, 222 in all. November 2024 was Azurite Sea, not Shimmering Skies.

What were the best cards in Shimmering Skies? By tournament evidence: Pete - Games Referee, Daisy Duck - Donald's Date and Prince Naveen - Ukulele Player in Steelsong; Mufasa - Ruler of Pride Rock and Tipo - Growing Son in Sapphire decks; and Elsa - The Fifth Spirit and Doc - Bold Knight, which the official Disney Lorcana site named as defining staples when they left Core.

What is the most valuable Shimmering Skies card? The Mufasa - Ruler of Pride Rock Enchanted (#217). It sold for about $200 to $355 ungraded in September 2026, and PriceCharting lists a PSA 10 at about $1,100. Snow White - Fair-hearted's Enchanted is second at about $162 ungraded.

Is a Shimmering Skies booster box a good investment? Not on the evidence so far. A box was about $142 on PriceCharting in September 2026, close to its launch pack pricing of about $144, so it has held value rather than grown. Buy it to open, not to flip.

Shimmering Skies Is an Infinity Set Now, With a Collector Market of Its Own.

Set 5 mattered: Pete, Daisy, Naveen, Mufasa and Tipo fed tier-1 decks from the set's first month, and the official site later named Elsa and Doc among the defining staples Core lost in July 2026. Now that the whole set has left Core, play those cards in Infinity and buy them at today's prices of $3 or less. Treat the Enchanteds and sealed boxes as collector decisions, not player ones.
