Amber is the friendliest ink for a new or budget player, and it's no coincidence it's also one of the most aggressive. Its plan is to flood the board with cheap, high-lore characters and race to 20 before the opponent sets up — while a deep toolkit of Singers, Bodyguards, and healing keeps that board intact.

Crucially, almost none of Amber's best pieces are expensive. The aggressive one-drops are Commons and Rares, the Singer that powers half the format's song decks is a Super Rare that still comes in cheap, and the healing that lets you grind is all budget-friendly. Stitch - Rock Star

6-cost Amber Character · Shift 4 · 3 Strength / 5 Willpower / 3 Lore

The payoff that keeps a go-wide deck from running dry. His Adoring Fans ability lets you exert any character you play costing 2 or less to draw a card — so every cheap body you flood the board with also refills your hand. Shift him onto a cheaper Stitch (like the vanilla Stitch - New Dog) to land him on turn four, and a 3/5/3 that quests for 3 is hard to race.

The Singer Engine

Amber is the only ink with the Singer keyword, and it's the backbone of the whole color. A Singer can exert to cast a Song for free, as if it cost what the Singer's value says — turning a 1-cost character into free access to a 3- or 5-cost spell. This is the engine that makes Amber/Steel "Steelsong" one of the most enduring archetypes in the game.

Cinderella - Ballroom Sensation

A turn-one Singer with no other text needed — that's how strong Singer is. With Singer 3, she can exert to cast any 3-cost-or-less song for free as early as turn two, ahead of curve. Drop her turn one and you've already got free songs online.

Ariel - Spectacular Singer

3-cost Amber Character · 2 Strength / 3 Willpower / 1 Lore · Singer 5

The card that defined Amber song decks. Singer 5 means she casts five-cost bombs for free, and she comes with a built-in ability to dig for a song to set up that exact play. A 2/3 body, song selection, and free five-cost casts in one cheap package — she's the first card most Amber decks are built around.

An aggressive lore deck has a glaring weakness: your fragile questers are easy to challenge and remove. Bodyguard fixes that — an opponent who wants to challenge must hit the Bodyguard first, letting your lore engines keep questing untouched.

Simba - Protective Cub

The cheap protector that holds the whole strategy together. A 2/3 body with Bodyguard for two ink is excellent rate, and it's inkable so it never feels like a dead draw. Play Lilo turn one, Simba turn two, and your opponent has to deal with the cub before they can touch your lore engine.

Maximus - Palace Horse

5-cost Amber Character · 4 Strength / 5 Willpower / 1 Lore · Bodyguard + Support

The top-end protector and a genuine bruiser. As a 4/5 Bodyguard he's hard to kill and likely trades up into two characters. And Support means when he quests, he can add his 4 strength to another character — turning a quester into a removal threat for a turn. Defense and offense in one card.

Healing & Staying Power

Amber's last edge is healing — the ability to undo damage and keep your board on the table longer than the opponent can answer it. In a grind, the deck that heals usually wins.

3-cost Amber Character

Two-for-one value on a budget. Her Signature Recipe ability removes up to 2 damage from a character and draws you a card when she enters — a body, a heal, and a card all at once. She keeps your questers healthy while refueling your hand, exactly what a go-wide deck wants in the mid-game.

Hakuna Matata

4-cost Amber Action · Song

A mass heal: remove up to 3 damage from each of your characters. After a big board-clash turn, this can reset your whole team to full and completely undo an opponent's attack. And because it's a Song, your Singers can cast it for free — a devastating tempo swing that leaves your wide board intact while theirs crumbles.
